Original Publicity
The Networking Newsletter Project is holding a major networking event on Saturday 26 January. This event, funded by the "Acorn Trust", will bring together groups and individuals working on every area of social justice - from neighbours working for cleaner streets to animal rights protesters, from asylum seeker support groups to the Ramblers, from NGOs to the smallest, poorest groups.
The event will
- help groups network with others and share skills and experiences
- raise awareness amongst the general public of issues important to those attending, hopefully the public getting involved with some groups present
- promote the good work of the Networking Newsletter Project (NNP), and help develop it (the more groups getting involved with the NNP the more everybody can get out of it!)
Already over 40 groups have booked a stall, including the World Development Movement, Manchester Social Services, Eve's Back (women's issues), Manchester Friends of the Earth, Manchester Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers, Greater Manchester Cycling Campaign, the Alternatives to Violence Project, various local Council for Voluntary Service groups, African & Caribbean Mental Health Services and the Greater Manchester Jubilee Debt Campaign. There's only a few spaces left, so if you'd like a stall please contact Michael today either via email to [email protected] or by telephone on [pls use email].
There will be stalls and displays by groups; group members, the public and the press wandering about, chatting to people; refreshments; an area for people to publicise and learn about forthcoming events; a short plenary session (essentially the NNP's AGM) and then off to a quiet pub for people to discuss more. A full report has been produced and mailed out to as many groups in the area as we can find addresses for.
The venue is wheelchair accessable (but please let us know in advance) and a signer will be available throughout the afternoon.
Report
We have produced a report of the day which was mailed out in mid-February to the Networking Newsletter Project membership (over 500 copies) and placed on the Web. The report includes group attending. If you could complete the form (Word 6.0/95) and hand in at the registration desk or email back to us, we'll include your information in the report.
