Speak Up for Grass Roots Campaigns

A recent report by the National Audit Office ("Getting Citizens Involved: Community Participation in Neighbourhood Renewal" at http://www.nao.org.uk/publications) backs up what the Networking Newsletter has been thinking: that grass roots community groups have too little influence on local strategic partnerships (LSPs) which are meant to be "identifying local priority neighbourhoods; diagnosing their problems; and designing appropriate responses, building on activities already underway in the areas concerned" according to the Manchester LSP.

The Networking Newsletter raised its concerns in the recent Manchester LSP survey and has been asked to a meeting with the Chair of the Manchester Community Engagement Strategy Working Group to discuss the problems and possible solutions. If you have any thoughts you would like us to put forward then please let us know by email by 31 December. A report from the meeting will appear in February's issue.
