Care Leavers
The Care Leavers Association (CLA), a not for profit group run by care leavers for care leavers, has opened its first national office, here in Manchester. Opening an office marks an important, exciting new chapter for the organization and is down to the voluntary effort of its members.
The CLA is an ever-growing union of care leavers who actively advocate and support radical change within the care system and services for care leavers. The CLA also acts to protect, promote and strengthen rights for care leavers and to empower members through support, education and training. CLA's mission is to challenge public perceptions and negative stereotypes of children in care and care leavers, and to create an environment where care leavers are respected and get the support and services they need and deserve.
