Green Grows the Council

photo of Vanessa Hall, the first Green councillor on Manchester City Council The Green Party made its breakthrough onto Manchester City Council on May Day this year when Vanessa Hall (whom you may remember from EMERGE, Coalition Against Runway 2 etc) was elected as a councillor for Hulme after a nail-biting double recount. As the only Green councillor in Manchester (so far!), Vanessa has to address green issues city-wide, as well as providing a full service to the people of Hulme.

Projects to be addressed include a zero waste strategy for Manchester, a green energy strategy for the council, traffic reduction, Safe Routes to School, opposing water fluoridation and airport expansion, and arguing for the council to appoint an animal welfare officer to support animal protection. At last, there will be a committed voice inside the town hall on these issues and more.

The workload is immense and Vanessa and team need help! Please contact Vanessa on 0161 227 9014 or email here at mcrgreenparty@redbricks.org.uk
