Site Unseen

Britain's arms exports fan the flames of conflict, aid repression, decrease rather than increase security, and create economic and humanitarian problems both for the poorest people in our world and for the international community as a whole.

BAE Systems is one of the world's largest arms company, producing virtually every type of weapon or weapons system known. It is a major player in the global arms trade, yet the company is almost unknown to most people in the country (despite making a tidy profit from the Iraq war).

To counter this, during 2003, Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) are organising protests at 40 sites belonging to BAE Systems or its subsidiaries as their Site Unseen campaign. In addition, CAAT will be holding local public meetings to raise awareness about the arms trade and how we can work together at a national and at a local level to end it.

Members of Manchester CAAT went to a vigil at the Chorley and Lostock sites in February and are organizing transport to a visit to the Salmesbury and Warton sites on Monday 12 May.
