Asylum's Acute Tests

According to Refugee Action, the recent changes to the asylum support system could result in 10-15 people in Manchester and Salford being made homeless every week. The new regulations mean that people seeking asylum in the UK will only qualify for support if they can prove they applied "as soon as is reasonably practicable" after arriving in the UK. Furthermore, asylum seekers will have their support removed if they cannot provide complete and accurate details about their journey to the UK and about how they have been surviving in the UK.

Refugee Action believe that the changes will result in more work for organisations that support asylum seekers and greater demand for emergency support.
