Justice in the Balance
Gerald Kaufman MP for Gorton was in the Holy Land making a television program when the Trade Justice Movement lobbied Parliament, so a group from local churches and WDM lobbied him at his surgery in Fallowfield. He had been warned and promised to sign the Early Day Motion on International Trade. He was handed him a packet of Pledges collected in the constituency and a Trade Justice Movement badge. He signed a giant pledge undertaking to work with others to change WTO rules, making them "pro poor".
The scales in the photograph on the left apparently tipped after Mr. Kaufmann added his pledge (which was behind the big label). The photo shows members of Anglican and Baptist churches in Fallowfield and Levenshulme.
