Andrew Ochaki returned to Uganda from a period of study in Belgium last August. Suspected of contact with rebels in Europe, he was picked up and tortured by the Ugandan authorities. Bribery secured his release, and he fled to the UK. The Home Office refuse to believe that Andrew was tortured and want to return him to Uganda. Yet their view that he is an "economic migrant" is not consistent with his actions, leaving Belgium on completing his course and returning to Uganda with time still available on his study visa.
But it's not all doom and gloom. Lata Shah and her daughter, Devesha, who came to Britain two years ago on holiday from India but wanted to stay in the UK to care for a relative disabled since birth as a result of medical negligence have won their right to stay!
The NCADC is interested in hearing from people who would like to help Irina, Nadia or Andrew.
