Trade for Life
On Saturday 3 November a group of intrepid visionaries from Manchester Friends of the Earth, People and Planet, and Labour Behind the Label popped down to London for the national "Carnival Against Capitalism". When they arrived, they were joined by 10,000 other concerned citizens in a variety of colourful customs bearing banners that demanded a world trade system that gives the poor a better deal. At the culmination of the carnival they were joined by speakers from national movements, including Naomi Klein.
A Trade Justice Movement for Manchester is being set up as part of the national movement supported by NGOs such as Christian Aid, Oxfam, Friends of the Earth and People and Planet. A meeting is to be held in December. More details from Angus Cleary on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0161 233 7063.
