Of major interest to cycle campaigners will be a new event for "Bike to Work Day" (Wednesday 20 June). Greater Manchester Cycling Campaign and Manchester City Council are running a series of "Bike Buses" during the morning rush hour to finish at a free commuter breakfast in Albert Square. The "buses" will be organised groups of cyclists riding into the city from start points at Boggart Hole Clough (along Rochdale Road) and Sainsbury's car park, Fallowfield (along Wilmslow Road). Departure times from both venues will be 7.00, 7.30, 8.00 and 8.30am. The aim of the "buses" is to provide support for people who do not normally cycle to work, by experienced cyclists. So, whatever kind of cyclist you are, please make the effort to participate, even if it means a slight detour to your normal route or an earlier start time. This will be a great opportunity to demonstrate the superiority of cycling as a commuter option!
There are several other events during Bike Week and throughout the summer, including organised rides to suit all levels, and track cycling "taster" sessions at the Velodrome.
