Solidarity Not Pity

Campaigns continue to grow in Greater Manchester in support of Asylum Seekers and those threatened with deportation. The Lata and Devesha Defence campaign has been set up to support Lata and her daughter Devesha in their resistance to Britain's immigration laws. Lata is, at present, caring for her niece, Arati, who has been disabled since birth as result of medical negligence. Because Lata came to the UK on holiday and then became Arati's carer, the immigration rules do not allow her to stay, however much she is needed. Bury Social Services agree it is in Arati's interest to be cared for by another family member.
