AGM Actions

Warton demo At the start of May, British Aerospace Systems held their Annual General Meeting. BAES are Europe's largest weapons company with an annual turnover of over £12billion. Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) and the British Aerospace Campaign both object to anybody profiting from the promotion of war and selling weapons. While there was nonviolent direct action at the AGM in London, Manchester CAAT organised a brief vigil outside the BAES factory at Warton with people from as far away as Macclesfield and Liverpool. The dozen protestors handed leaflets out to the workers asking them to consider the ethics of the company, particularly given BAES sell weapons to countries with appalling human rights records such as Turkey and Indonesia.
