Stop the Slaughter
Presenter Jon Snow, together with a partnership of many organisations including Oxfam, World Wide Fund for Nature, Christian Aid and VSO, has launched "On the Line". This is an international community and education initiative which will link, via television and the Internet, the eight countries on the Greenwich Meridian line - Algeria, Burkina, Faso, France, Ghana, Mali, Spain, Togo, and the UK. It is designed to bring together communities in these countries.
In order to do so, some "Millennium Award" grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 are now available to young adults (or small groups of young adults) aged between 18 and 35 in the fields of education, arts and culture, sport and leisure, and public awareness. If you can bring On the Line's vision of global understanding alive and make connections with communities along the line, then apply for a Millennium Award. To obtain an application pack, ring the hotline on 0845 123 4243.
