Manchester Red Rope

Manchester Red Rope is a club for walkers, climbers and mountaineers of the socialist or green inclinations. We collectively organise day walks and weekend trips to North Wales, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. On weekend trips, charges are banded according to income. For example, the cost of a trip to North Wales will be around £10 for someone on benefit, and £40 for someone earning over £260 per week. All trips aim to provide for everyone, regardless of their level of experience. Accommodation is normally in a climbing hut - facilities are fairly basic but there is often a woodburning stove which makes the place cosy. There are usually a couple of walks to choose from on Saturday morning: a higher level, longer, more strenuous walk; and a lower level easier ramble. A communal veggie/vegan meal is prepared on Saturday night usually followed by a trip to the pub. Red Rope aims to be non-sexist, non-racist, non-elitist in its organisation. Children are welcome on trips.
